Background
Our buddy Vince organized a truck expedition to
Big Bend and other parts of Texas. We elected to continue east
toward the east coast and visit friends along the way.
We will be rolling in Thor (our Mercedes-Benz
1017A 4x4 with modified Lance camper). Our penultimate
objective is to visit Kathleen's mother in Long Island, NY.
Like most trips east, our first stop was Tucson, AZ to visit
family and then head east across southern Arizona into New
Mexico, Texas and then the south-central U.S.
Our path for this trip is show in the map below as logged by our SPOT GPS transmitter. Approximately 10,000 miles were logged during our cross-continent journey. Note that there were several brief intervals when the transmitter was inadvertently disabled.

Conclusions
Every time we come
back from a cross-country trip, I am stunned by the size and
diversity of America. We passed through many climate and
geographic zones, each with its own personality. We met
old friends and made new ones and had some great
