As stated previously, our plan was to stay at Spider for only a couple of days, then move camp to Rubicon Springs. But, on the first morning, we were awakened to the sound of a helicopter carrying loads of cargo to the Springs. These trips were to support the Daimler-Chrysler sales award trip. There were groups of jeeps and trail hands on the move from Wentworth Springs to Rubicon Springs. We counted over 20 trips by this copter alone. Given the amount of material they were transporting, we could only conclude that there would be a group of substantial size at the Springs. In fact, we were getting concerned that there would not be sufficient camp space at Rubicon, so Mike walked there and back to get the scoop. The resulting information caused us to stay at Spider rather than moving camp. While Rubicon Springs is a pretty place, we pretty much had the lake to ourselves. And, more importantly, we were already there and setup. In the end, we decided to stay at the lake for the duration, returning the way we came in, except through Wentworth Springs rather than Loon Lake.
